Mark--
Thanks for posting this. I have wrestled (and still do) with this, too...and it's good to know I'm not the only one. Christ invited--and invites--those who hear Him to follow Him...and to follow is to go where He went, interact with the people in those places, and do what He did. Coupled with the Word prompting disciples to serve as Christ served and to think of others as more important than ourselves. Our culture doesn't have this mind. Mother Theresa lived a life of that kind of servitude. In our culture today, how much to spend/buy isn't always a black-and-white issue. (E.g., one person may need something like a cd burner for ministry while another may want one for personal use) Thankfully, the Holy Spirit speaks to us and guides us and gradually transforms our thinking to HIS! I'm still thinking and praying about this...may God show us both and others how to follow Christ in our culture.
